Big Heel and Face Turns Could Shake Up WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event is just around the corner, marking the first of many such shows to come throughout the year. With the move to Netflix on the horizon, every match becomes more crucial than usual. The event’s impact wouldn’t be the same if the title matches were random pairings instead of extensions of ongoing feuds. Gunther will defend his title against Finn Balor, while Liv Morgan will try to overcome a hard-charging IYO SKY, and Cody Rhodes will face off against Kevin Owens. The next five heel and face turns could go down at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The Street Profits, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, have been together for years without really changing. A heel turn could refresh their characters, making them more interesting to watch. They were supposed to have a match against DIY on the latest episode of SmackDown but were the latest victims in a wave of backstage attacks. The Profits teased a heel turn when talking down to The Motor City Machine Guns, even though Tomasso Ciampa interfered. A heel turn could help Shelley and Chris Sabin get a rematch at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Chelsea Green, despite being a heel, gets cheers from the WWE Universe due to her attention to detail and ability to put others over. She could undergo a face turn if she makes the finals of the Women’s United States title tournament at Saturday Night’s Main Event. If Piper Niven turns on her, it would be all the more effective. Green’s attention to detail and ability to make others look great regularly earn her cheers during matches.

Tiffany Stratton, like Green, can still get cheered despite being a heel due to her outlandish character. Nia Jax has bullied her many times, but the two remain allies. If Jax finally turns on her, Stratton will become a beloved face immediately. Cashing in on either women’s Champ would also automatically help her cause. If someone lays Liv Morgan out before, during, or after her match with IYO SKY, Stratton could cash in at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Dominik Mysterio might be headed for a face turn as he continues to argue with Finn Balor, who leads The Judgment Day. A face turn could be in the making if Dominik costs Balor the match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The fans would likely cheer that moment, but Gunther would still be a heel. Dom has also been talking to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, which could be a sign of things to come.

Randy Orton is a natural heel due to his lineage, gifts, and pushes. He has been involved in the drama between Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and Roman Reigns. Orton could re-emerge since Owens is set to face The American Nightmare at Saturday Night’s Main Event. He could back up Rhodes or turn on his friend since his career had almost ended. An RKO out of nowhere on Rhodes would signal a return to his villainous persona.

The heel and face turns mentioned above could be the changes necessary to refresh the characters and storylines. With the move to Netflix on the horizon, every match becomes more crucial than ever. Saturday Night’s Main Event could be the perfect platform for WWE to make lasting impacts on the characters and storylines. Will Gunther or Finn Balor’s actions come back to haunt them at Saturday Night’s Main Event? Only time will tell.
